The Eilean Mor Lighthouse had three lighthouse keepers, who took shifts of two weeks on the island and two weeks off. During Donald MacArthur's keeper duties, one of the three keepers, James Ducat, Thomas Marshall, or William Ross, would not be on the island at any given point.
