A group of Andamanese people, also known as the Sentinelese, allegedly retaliated against British colonizers in 1880, leading to one of their fishermen being taken aboard a colonial steamer. There are conflicting stories as to whether he willingly boarded or was seized by the crew, but he was dubbed "Jack" and kept on board until the ship reached Calcutta.
