The Myth of the Super-Predator
The myth of the super-predator, a term coined in the 1990s, described young criminals as being ruthless and lacking remorse, often carrying guns with no respect for human life, driving a series of laws aimed to incarcerate young people in adult jails. This idea, based on hypothetical predictions and coded language for the existence of black people, had a major impact on US criminal justice policies.
