The Krupp Company started selling arms to Egypt in the 1850s, which began the trend of modern German companies selling weapons globally. Despite a slow start with only one order, Krupp eventually became one of the three primary German arms companies in the World Wars, along with Schneider and Armstrong (Vickers).
