The Pony Express and Mark Twain's Eyewitness Testimony
The Pony Express was an important delivery system in the 1860s which inspired eyewitness testimonies from people such as Mark Twain, who wrote about the horsemen seen crossing the plains. Mark Twain also traveled to Hawaii and attempted surfing on 10-foot long wooden boards, while Richard Burton had a less enjoyable experience in the same place.
