Hydraulic fracturing created the opportunity for the US to become a leading exporter of liquefied natural gas. The nation is now shipping out around 12 billion cubic feet of liquefied gas per day, equivalent to the daily gas consumption of Britain, however, retrofitting the infrastructure needed for this energy-intensive process has not been without its challenges.
