Child Life Specialists use their expertise in child development and play to support children and families in stressful situations such as hospitalizations by providing education, preparation, and opportunities for normalization and play. To become a Child Life Specialist, one must have a bachelor's or master's degree in a related field, complete a 640-hour internship, and pass a national certification exam.
