The Role of Olcott in Blavatsky's Life
Olcott was the primary fundraiser for Blavatsky's Theosophical Society and kept the money coming in to support her expensive tastes, including a pound a day tobacco habit. They held court at the Lodos Club where they entertained spiritualists, mediums, scientists, lawyers, doctors, clergymen, and other people with the influence to support their growing movement.
