By stimulating the left dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex, a brain circuit involved in cognitive control, researchers were able to increase trait hypnotizability. This area of the brain is also implicated in therapeutic hypnosis and can be inhibited to knock out the ability to perform certain tasks well.
