Discovering life elsewhere will require massive amounts of engineering to create machines capable of sampling and detecting life in oceans and beneath layers of ice on distant planets or moons. It's unlikely that we could eat extraterrestrial life forms since Earth bacteria would not survive in those foreign worlds.
