The sinlessness of Mary is a result of her being "preserved from all stain of original sin" by the merits of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection, which makes sense considering the sinlessness of the first Adam and Eve. The angel of light caused the first Eve, who was also without sin, to disobey and disbelieve, leading to the fall of humanity.
