The investigation into Michelle O'Connell's death was reportedly flawed, with the police not following protocol which led to the settling of the case as a suicide on many accounts. A second medical examiner, Dr. Bulich, suggests that Michelle may have used her non-dominant hand to shoot herself with the gun upside down, and that the recoil caused the light attached to the gun to hit her face, which could account for the size of the cut on her face.
