The Tradeoffs of Socialist Programs
The tradeoff for the hypothetical increase in taxes for lower- and middle-class citizens to support socialist programs, such as free college, Medicare for All, and social security, would still benefit them, as they are the ones who would consume more of these services. However, the cost of these programs, estimated to be around $40 trillion over 10 years, and the increasing costs of providers and pharmaceuticals may make it difficult to implement them, raising questions about their viability.
