In 2003, a team of highly skilled and physically fit climbers formed the Granite Mountain Hotshots, dedicated to technical climbing, high altitude rescues, and emergency medical care. These men were experienced in survival skills and capable of running, hiking, and climbing for long distances, but their story would end in tragedy.
