The United States Public Health Service (USPHS) is a uniformed service of more than 6,000 public health professionals that work in government agencies such as the CDC and FDA, as well as the Bureau of Prisons and National Park Service. They have been deployed to provide medical care in disaster areas and played a pivotal role in the Ebola crisis in Africa.
