The first book, "Let the People Rule," is a story of pre-Civil War America, the Mexican-American War, the Civil War, and Reconstruction, all told in the life of one person who was involved in all three. The second book, "Shackleton's Incredible Journey," tells the story of Antarctic exploration through the diaries of those who were on Shackleton's journey.
