The theory on how we sense taste is that a specific type of taste molecule interacts with a specific type of taste receptor, which then sends an electrical impulse to the brain to process the taste. The nucleus of the solitary tract of the brain is responsible for putting different tastes together and determining whether the food is good or bad for us.
