The idealistic view of platforms as just access points without censorship or regulating content is proving to be wrong as companies such as Google, YouTube, Twitter, and now Spotify are demonstrating. The democratization of information that these companies aimed for is now causing tension as the responsibility of censoring and regulating content is shifting to these platforms who are essentially becoming publishers.
