Understanding Fast Twitch Muscles and Strength Training
The two subsets of fibers in muscles are type I and type II fibers. Type II fibers are fast twitch muscles, quick at contracting and fatigue easily, whereas Type I fibers are slow twitch, heavily dependent on oxygen delivery and oxidative phosphorylation.
