Historical Public Executions and the Irony of Christian Forgiveness
The similarities between the condemned going to their death by execution and Jesus' journey to being nailed to the cross was not often recognized in the past, which raises the question of why people were doing this to others if it was not justified for their savior. The treatment of malefactors, outcasts, and lawbreakers in the most religious fanatic era in Europe's history were the same as that towards Jesus, showing the irony of Christian forgiveness.
