Researchers have discovered hyperactivity in certain neural circuits in people with bipolar disorder that over time actually causes those circuits to diminish, in addition to the circuits for interoception that wane and disappear. This article highlights what is known about the neural circuits that lead to the manic states in bipolar disorder.
