The function of intimate partner violence is sometimes to terminate a pregnancy by a rival male, rather than to deter a partner from committing an infidelity or leaving the relationship. Other types of partner violence include denigrating a partner, feigning anger, and being outraged over a partner's infidelity of a sexual, financial, or emotional nature.
