The use of psilocybin to treat opioid use disorder is being proposed for clinical trials. Although some have raised ethical concerns about using potentially addictive drugs to treat addiction, psilocybin is not known to be addictive in terms of its effects on the brain reward system, even among those who have been exposed to it multiple times.
