Research has shown that vascular disease is not a major cause of death in mice, unlike cancer which accounts for between 60-90% of deaths. Therefore, interventions that prevent vascular disease or heart disease would not have a significant impact on mouse lifespan if not for their impact on cancer and other age-related diseases.
