The Connection Between Stress, Ketamine and Brain Function
Researchers have found evidence that prolonged stress leads to a loss of synaptic connections in the brain, contributing to behavioural and cognitive changes, and the development of depression. However, giving a dose of ketamine to stressed animals can produce rapid biochemical, electrophysiological, and structural changes in the brain in just 24 hours, according to researchers George Agajanian and Ron Dumon.
