Instagram's focus on over-extractive growth has led to a cultural addiction to being influencers and getting attention, which is not its real purpose. Instead, Instagram could be a social utility that helps us keep in touch with our friends, but the business model of advertising and engagement is the opposite of a tool for empowerment.
