Timothy Leary studied psilocybin and LSD at Harvard University from 1960 to 1963, but became impatient with research and instead aimed at treating the whole culture with these substances, believing they could save civilization from collapse. Despite skepticism towards treating drugs with other drugs, the promising results in treating addictions make it necessary to do the research and explore these substances' risks.
