The Science of Pacing
In some competitive landscapes, pacing and visual pacers such as lasers or pace runners are not allowed as it accesses systems in the brain and body to create more energy and effort. Focusing on a landmark or milestone during a run can make it much easier than without one, utilizing the visual system's ability to switch between panoramic vision and focused attention.
