Luna was a redwood tree that became the center of a tree-sitting campaign to save the trees from being cut down by the Pacific Lumber Company. Despite the efforts of activists like Julia Butterfly Hill, Luna was eventually left with a 32-inch-deep, 19-foot-wide cut around her base and metal braces were put in place to prevent her from falling.
