Tree-sitting is a form of activism to prevent the removal of trees by physically occupying them when all other methods fail. The redwood trees were being cut down for lumber and lawn furniture and activists would sit up for days to stop them from being cleared, but Pacific Lumber Company still managed to clear cut tons of trees two weeks after one such protest.
