Understanding different parts of the brain, their functionality, and the behavior of different neurons, by using causal testing to turn up or down the activity of certain types of cells or defined populations of cells and observing the actions. The goal is to monitor single collections of neurons to gain insight on complex behaviors, and single neurons to draw deeper insights on the origins of different parts of the brain.
