The best long-distance runners are competent across a range of distances, but tend to get better as the distance gets longer. This is true for Kip Choge who was an incredible 3000, 5000, 10,000-meter runner but found that his longer distances were really where he came into his own, after not even being selected for the Olympic squad in 2012 and 2016.
